After some time working in the medical field, I realized the importance of clear communication within the field itself, especially when working in a region as culturally diverse as South Florida. This encouraged me to pursue my certificate in Translation and Interpretation. The courses that proved to be the most useful to me were Medical Translation (SPT 4809) and Medical Interpretation (SPT 4942), in which I was able to learn technical terms that I did not know for both English and Spanish; I have learned that there are many ways to say the same thing in either langue, however, I have learned how to efficiently and efficiently communicate with people that have very different backgrounds and dialects in order to aid them medically.
